Ahh the mistakes made growing pains and lessons.

A Collection Of Mistakes - Same Problem Different Day
Nikon D7100 - (AF-S DX Nikkor 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR) ISO 100, 46s @ f/18 (Crop Ratio: 2x3) (captured 2019-07-11 12:30:22)

Remember that little piece of plastic that covers the view finder we normally just chuck out? Known as an Eyepeice cap, it covers/blacks out the view finder and why one might ask?: Well here are a couple examples: Needless to say during a long exposure, light leaked through the viewfinder causing the color banding!

This actually applies to light leaks in film cameras as well, be they 35mm, medium or large format cameras; mirrorless, however, maybe not since the view finder is an EVF!

Lesson here is: When provided by the manufacturer an item will usually have a use.

A Collection Of Mistakes - Missing Something Here
Nikon D7100 - (AF-S DX Nikkor 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR) ISO 100, 30s @ f/18 (Crop Ratio: 2x3) (captured 2019-07-07 14:04:00)
Have you ever run into this before? Setup: 30 second long exposure, but I missed covering the optical viewfinder!
